What is PureWhite™?
We are excited about
this new alloy. After extensive
experimentation and research 18KtPd PureWhite™
was released in August of 2005 by the
Corona Jewellery Company of Toronto,
Canada.
PureWhite™
is 18Kt white gold. Rather than
nickel, the alloy used to whiten the
gold is primarily palladium.
Palladium is a member of the platinum
family of metals.
18Kt gold is 75% pure gold. The
remaining 25% of PureWhite™
is a secret formula of metals to give
the metal a true white gold brilliance.
The major component of the alloy is
palladium.
Benefits of
PureWhite™
Nickel Free
The product is 100% nickel free.
Regular white gold contains nickel as
the whitening agent. Some
people suffer from an allergic reaction
to nickel.
Durability
The addition of palladium increases
the metals strength, hardness, modulus
of elasticity and melting point.
Colour
PureWhite™
is the whitest, brightest white gold we
have yet seen. It's colour is like
bright platinum. No longer is it a
given that white gold jewellery needs to
turn a yellowish/brownish tone
once the rhodium plating wears off.
Weight
PureWhite™
is lighter than platinum, actually
nearly half its weight. A lighter weight than
platinum makes PureWhite™
more comfortable to wear.
Price
PureWhite™
is affordable. Much less than the
cost of platinum. For example for
a regular engagement ring, the cost
difference to go up to 18Kt Pd
(Palladium) gold from 14Kt white gold
would be about $150CDN.
You get the luxury of 18Kt gold. A
product that will be a bright white
forever. A product that isn't
toxic if you have a nickel sensitivity -
all for a modest investment.
Care and Maintenance
18KtPd
PureWhite™
requires no different care or cleaning
than other gold jewellery. Advice
on care and cleaning jewellery is
available here.
18KtPd
PureWhite™
is easier for a goldsmith to work with
than platinum.
However only a repair centre
knowledgeable and supplied with 18KtPd
gold material, parts and solder should
work on PureWhite™
products. This is necessary to
keep 18KtPd
PureWhite™
nickel free and its colour consistent.
